Home Sweet Home
Well, it's ours. We've closed on the new house and now it's just a matter of moving in...which happens this week. I haven't been sleeping well this week cause everytime I hear a bump in the night (aka - my husband snoring or daughter crying) I wake up and then I find myself lying there making to-do lists in my head. I have to say...I love our new house. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT...and I can't wait to SLEEP IN IT IN MY OWN BED.
I think it's appropriate to take a moment to reflect on the past few months and the few things I've learned since living in the apartment. (1) I really don't NEED half the crap we own in order to get through the day and (2) I really WANT half the crap we own that I don't need in order to get through the day. I mean, there are things we have in boxes that were in boxes and will continue to be in boxes that could just really go to the curb and it wouldn't be missed, but then there are the few things we own that are really quite indulgent and I don't think I could take another week without them. I've gotten some what spoiled on technology and comfort over the years...and scaling back hasn't been fun. All I can say is that I am soooo looking forward to being HOME and having my things and having the space and having the time to relax on a REAL COUCH.
It's been a long and reasonably uneventful summer since we haven't really had the means to have people over and entertain (two plates, four forks, and uncomfortable seeing for six) and really, I think that's what I've missed the most. I kinda feel like we've gone into storage along with our belongings and the world has continued on without us -- but not for much longer. Come this weekend, we will once again have a door to leave open for all who care to come on in!!
